Meshell Ndegeocello Pour Une Ame Souveraine: A Dedication To Nina Simone on 2LP + CD
Critically-acclaimed artist Meshell Ndegeocello pays tribute to one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time, Nina Simone, in her latest recording and follow-up to 2011's Weather. This inspired, genre-defying recording is full of haunting vocals, gorgeously rich harmonies, fleeting bass rhythms and hypnotic percussion.
Pour Une Ame Souveraine (for a sovereign soul) is Ndegeocello's 10th album. After a career of more than 20 years, Ndegeocello, the American singer-songwriter, rapper, bassist and vocalist and her musicians Chris Bruce (guitar), Jebin Bruni (keys) and Deantoni Parks (drums), recorded a tribute to Nina Simone and play some of the tracks made famous by the icon of black music.
Ndegeocello also invited a few guests to take part in this dedication to Simone including Sinead O'Connor, Lizz Wright, Valerie June, Toshi Reagon and Cody ChesnuTT. Pour Une Ame Souveraine is engineered, mixed and mastered by Pete Min.
This 2LP edition from Naive Records also includes a bonus CD.
