ZZ Top Deguello on 180g LP from Warner Bros. Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Studios and Pressed at RTI ZZ Top's 1979 Record Among Decade's Most Memorable Blues-Rock Efforts Includes Hits "Cheap Sunglasses," "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide," "She Loves My Automobile" and a Surfeit of Deadpan Humor Rio Grande Mud, Fandango!, and Tres Hombres Also Available on 180g LP From Warner Bros. Talk about optimizing an extended break. The guys from the Lil' Ol' Band from Texas took some time off after 1976's mediocre Tejas, a record that followed years of tireless touring and recording. Rejuvenated and reenergized, ZZ Top returned with Deguello, a strong start-to-finish set that checked in as the trio's finest effort since 1973's breakthrough Tres Hombres. Bringing its salacious and off-color deadpan humor to the fore, and tightening up the grooves while placing a harder edge on the bluesy riffs, ZZ Top turns in one of the decade's most memorable rock efforts, anchored by hits such as "Cheap Sunglasses," "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide," and "She Loves My Automobile." Indeed, ZZ Top is best when the collective keeps it simple, and amist the desirable landscapes of cars, girls, booze, and cool painted by the fun-spirited narratives, the arrangements swagger with red-dirt rootsiness and bad-ass attitude. If you've ever wondered why Billy Gibbons is commonly revered as a guitar god, look no further. The bearded wonder's greasy fills, stomping boogies, and playful solos stoke Deguello, which, in case you're wondering, translates to "no quarter" or "no surrender" in English. Seldom as a record ever been more aptly titled. You need this one. Mastered from the original analog tapes by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Studios, and pressed at RTI, Warner Bros.' LP crackles with explosive dynamics and rich tonalities. Akin to the previously reissued versions of Fandango and Tres Hombres, and the newly released Rio Grande Mud, Deguello on 180g vinyl sounds just like ZZ Top would if the band played five feet away from you in your living room. Dig it. ZZ Top Deguello Track Listing: |
