Arriving at the peak of its storied career, the period during the late 70s and early 80s when the group ruled arenas and outdoor amphitheaters, Journey's Escape blends everything that was great about the band. Namely, grand guitar riffs, bigger-than-Texas melodies, likable hooks, and a harder-rock flavor that gave the songs added punch.

The songwriting combination paid magnificent dividends. 1981's Escape peaked at Number One on the Billboard charts and remained amidst the Top 200 Albums for more than two years. No fewer than four singles: "Still They Ride," the everlasting power ballad "Open Arms," the AOR-ready "Who's Crying Now," and the forever-beloved anthem "Don't Stop Believin'," cracked the Top 20 singles charts. And when, in 2005, the World Champion Chicago White Sox adopted "Don't Stop Believin'" as their theme song, the tune was reborn as a rallying cry for sports teams across the country.

Driven by Journey's classic (and really, only true) lineup of vocalist Steve Perry, legendary guitar hero Neil Schon, bassist Ross Vallory, drummer Steve Smith, and keyboardist Jonathan Cain, Escape has tallied sales of more than 9 million copies in the U.S. alone. Marking the beginning of Friday Music's Journey 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl Series, Escape comes for the first time on 180 gram high grade audiophile vinyl pressed at RTI and mastered from the original Columbia Records tapes by Joe Reagoso and Kevin Gray at AcousTech. It's also housed in a gatefold cover (another first) and includes a lyric sheet.
