Parliament's 1974 album Up From The Down Stroke features a nice and funky stripped down sound and a taste of the bass-driven groove that would dominate the P-Funk sound the remainder of the '70s. Bootsy Collins is joined here by Eddie Hazel, Bernie Worrell and the other usual suspects on a set that includes the monster title cut plus other funky fare like "The Goose," "Testify," "Presence Of A Brain" and "All Your Goodies Are Gone."
