Lyra Delos MC Phono Cartridge
6th Generation Lyra Cartridge Design Combines Best of Tradition and Cutting-Edge Modernism
Delos' Angles in Perfect Alignment at All Times During LP Playback: Results in More Responsive Sound, Involving Dynamics, Finite Information Retrieval, Incredible TrackingWhen you listen to music, you crave the warmth, detail, immersion, and involvement provided by LPs and turntables. You're not alone. Interest in vinyl playback continues to escalate. One reason is simple: For, as advanced as today's digital technology seems, sometimes you cannot improve on a classic method. Then again, sometimes you can. Alone in its approach to cartridge design, Lyra gives music listeners the best of both tradition and modernity. And while Lyra's technical explanations and techniques make for interesting reading, all that really matters is that you, the discerning listener, benefit from the enhanced experiences Lyra's methods deliver.
Standard-Setting Performance and Myriad Sonic Attributes
The sixth-generation Lyra cartridge design and a Music Direct best-seller, Delos affords three-dimensional perspectives and beautiful tones never approached by most models in its price range--a relatively modest cost, given the standard-setting performance. Involving dynamics, responsive sound, finite textural retrieval, and incredible tracking are among Delos' many attributes. If you've never heard a Lyra, your jaw might literally drop once you witness Delos' reproduction of everything from demanding percussive lines to soft vocal sibilants. Attaining such top-flight sonic behavior doesn't come easy.
A New Angle on LP Reproduction
At its core, Delos is built around an architecture that finds the cartridge's angles in perfect alignment at all times. Doing so gives you improved low-level detail, dynamic range, transient impact, and presence. The problem is that conventional moving-coil cartridges don't follow these principles. They feature aligned angles only when tracking force is not applied, meaning that disorientation and directional flux occurs every time you play an album. Tracking ability, resolution, dynamics, and detail all suffer as a result. Lyra designer Jonathan Carr solved this fundamental issue by developing a body structure with an unusually shallow angle and pairing it with a unique, asymmetrical damping system. When tracking force is applied, the force of the stylus on the LP causes the cartridge's angles to assume a symmetrical shape, eliminating any discrepancies between the magnetic circuit, signal coils, and core. Or, put simply, better sound for you.
Analog is an exact science. Lyra recognizes this. Delos comes equipped with further attributes to ensure you get repeat richly engaging encounters with your favorite records. A microridge stylus on a boron cantilever provides superb tracking; a non-parallel solid machined metal body furnishes low resonances; 6-N high-purity copper coils and nude construction impart alluring clarity. We could go on about the nit-picky specifications. But we feel that, like us, what you really care about is how Delos will make your music come alive.

"The Delos displays a wonderfully lively dynamic response, sounds consistently fast and responsive, with a rich thicket of tones and textures. From bass drum wallops to light cymbal pats, growling bowed strings, and moments of dynamic hush to explosive outbursts, the Delos also conjured an impressive illusion of three-dimensionality...it seems to me that Lyra’s design work with the Delos has yielded something quite special: a beautiful performer that sets a new standard in its class."
