Jason Simon, best known for his work as the guitarist and singer for the seminal heavy psych band known as Dead Meadow, releases his first solo album on Tee Pee Records. This is a stripped down and intimate record filled with intricate guitar work and poignant well-thought lyrics. Some songs are filled with dark brooding drones; others leisurely carry the listener down meandering rivers as they slowly develop in their own unhurried way. There are shades of Bert Jansch, Leonard Cohen, Sandy Bull and Townes Van Zandt, but only shades as this is most certainly its own thing. It is a record to remind the listener that heavy does not come from loud distortion and huge drums, but rather from the depth within the song itself.
