Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1974 album Second Helping helped set the parameters for what a great Southern rock album should be. Loose, greasy, chock full of swagger, attitude, and strutting leads, it remains infamous for the iconic "Sweet Home Alabama,"  the group's biggest hit single and answer to Neil Young's "Southern Man" and "Alabama."

But Second Helping is much more than one song, whether the credentials are related to the unsurpassed three-guitar attack or Ronnie Van Zandt's passionate vocals. The record captures the band at the height of its powers and more than assured Skynyrd's ascendancy to immortality. And it's never sounded so good.

Featuring stellar mastering by iconic engineer Steve Hoffman, Audio Fidelity's 24K + Gold edition of this trailblazing rock classic bests all prior editions. The audiophile label specializes in deluxe packaging with see-through slip cases and beautifully reproduced original graphics. As always, the original master tape was played back on a specially constructed vintage tube playback deck, with the analog masters put through the new "Kensei Audio Transformer," a process that adds even more life to the music.
