The Beatles Mono Albums 13CD Box Set These Catalog Remasters are Truly the Audio Event of the Century No Compression Used on Collector’s Set featuring 10 Studio Records in Mono! Features Mini-LP CD Packaging Box Exclusive: Mono Mixed Studio Albums Are Not Available Individually Also Available: 16 x CD The Stereo Albums Box Set with Entire Catalog in Stereo Out of Print: This Will Not be Produced Again Finally! After a nearly 23-year wait, the Beatles are at long last getting the treatment they’ve always deserved. The most anticipated catalog reissues in music history have arrived and feature the pristine remastering that fans have craved since being subject to the highly inferior, much-maligned release of the British quartet’s records on CD in 1987. This time around, proper care and a painstaking series of steps were taken to ensure that music lovers would hear the Fab Four in all their glory. With EMI’s legendary Abbey Road Studios providing the backdrop, the four-year restoration process combined veteran expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, vintage studio gear, and rigorous testing to net what is without doubt the highest fidelity possible—and authentic, jaw-dropping sound guaranteed to rival the original LPs. There is no longer any need to pay hundreds of dollars for Japanese pressings. At the start of the restoration process, engineers conducted extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes into the digital realm using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution and a Prism A-D converter. Dust build-ups were removed from tape machine heads after the completion of each title. Artifacts such as electrical clicks, microphone vocal pops, excessive sibilance, and poor edits were improved upon as long as it was determined that doing so didn’t at all damage the integrity of the songs. Similarly, de-noising technology was applied in only a few necessary spots—and on a sum total of less than five of the entire 525 minutes of Beatles music. NO COMPRESSION WAS USED ON ANY OF THE MONO MIXES. Worried about dynamics? Breathe a sigh of relief. Why mono, you ask? For starters, no less of an authority than Beatles producer George Martin is on record intimating that the mono mixes are superior. And the Beatles themselves are rumored to have left the studio once the mono mixing had been completed. Due to its one-track nature, mono allows more previously hidden details to come to the surface, including instrumental accents, fade-away lyrics, low-end frequencies, and all kinds of notes. Lacking the separation of instruments in the left and right channels, the sound is different, but it's also more vivid and present, simultaneously clearer and more physical. To many ears, mono is also more natural, particularly given that stereo was in its infancy during the recording of many Beatles records--and not even yet an option for its initial albums. So if you want to hear the Beatles as they were meant to be heard, mono is the way to go. A rigorous string of checks and balances ensured that the results exceeded expectations. Subject to numerous playback tests, songs were auditioned by the remastering team to determine if any lingering mistakes needed correction. The restored versions were also compared side-by-side against the original vinyl pressings (loaded into Pro Tools), and then again auditioned in the same studio where all recent Beatles projects, including Love, were mixed. Once all EQ issues had been addressed, another round of listening litmus tests occurred in still another location. Finalization required the approval of everyone involved in the remastering process. For this project, there was no such thing as too many cooks in the kitchen. Yes, it took a village to get it right. And there’s no better way to experience it than in mono on this special collector’s set aimed at enthusiasts that features 10 Beatles studio albums in mono, six of which are making their mono debut on CD. In addition, Help! and Rubber Soul each come with the original 1965 stereo mix, which have never before been heard on CD. There’s more. Each album is packaged in mini-vinyl CD replicas of the original sleeves that include all of the original inserts and retain the original label designs. A white, glossy slip case holds it all together. This is a fanatic’s dream. PLEASE NOTE: The mono mixes of the albums are exclusive to The Beatles In Mono box set.
