Tom Waits One From The Heart On 180g Vinyl LP

The pairing of Tom Wait's scratchy growl with Crystal Gayle's sweet contralto for the score to Francis Ford Coppola's 1982 film resulted in an inspired and beautifully wrought collaboration. The album contains some of Wait's most accessible and poignant lyrics and the small-combo-style accompaniment included none other than saxophonist Teddy Edwards, drummer Shelly Manne, trumpeter Jack Sheldon, pianist Pete Jolly and bassist Greg Cohen, among others. The sound, typical of Wait's, is intentionally retro, almost lounge in spots with highlights being "Old Boyfriends," "Little Boy Blue," and the classic "One from the Heart."
