For untold reasons, Cat Stevens never released a live record during the 1970s. It seemed an obvious choice: The artist enjoyed six consecutive chart-topping records and commanded the attention of a public enthralled with his penetrating songwriting and soulful melodies. Originally released on CD just a few years ago, Majikat more than makes up for the absence of a period Stevens concert document. Even better, it captures the wordsmith at the peak of his powers, as it presents Stevens' then-farewell tour in 1976.
