Ween's long out of print 1993 release, Pure Guava was their third overall and first for a major label. The Pennsylvania pranksters are as unapologetically weird and ridiculously inappropriate as ever here, and the album's greatest moments arrive in typical oddball fashion such as the distorted ditty "Big Jilm," the relentless pop hit "Push th' Little Daisies" and the mock-stadium-rock number "Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy)." While the absurdity of the album is undeniable, so is the ever-evolving talent and humor of Dean and Gene, who were literally just getting started with Pure Guava.
