Tipica 73 was formed by a group of young musicians who left Ray Barretto's band in '73, looking to expand their horizons musically. It was a shocking blow to the Latin music world but peace was made after all, and a legacy of great music was left to Fania Records, starting with this album. Tipica ’73 became a very successful group and they released some of the best and most progressive albums in New York City’s salsa history.

Maybe it was due to the incredible combination of talent and creativity, as well as their system of functioning as a cooperative, not only in the fair distribution of salaries, but also in an equal division of duties and labor. Sadly, as we know, the band eventually split in two. This LP is extremely rare and is a must for all collectors and tropical music lovers alike.

All Fania reissues have undergone remastering from the original ¼ inch tapes. All remastered releases feature a fuller, dynamic range and rich textured sound.
