The SR1000 S is an extremely high-quality purpose built surround speaker which incorporates all the design elements of the entire Electra S Series for optimum integration. Tonal balance is impressively flat and a dead-ringer for the rest of the Electra S Series. Focal’s commitment to building everything in house, from the drivers and crossovers to the cabinet, gives the SR1000 S seemingly impossible bass extension and extraordinary dynamic range from a modestly sized cabinet.

SR1000 S Design
Essentially two bookshelf speakers in a single cabinet, the SR1000 S features the same “W” cone technology as the rest of the Electra S series. Optimized with a longer throw voice coil and more powerful motor structures, these woofers mimic exactly the performance of the ones used in the rest of the Electra S series, despite the smaller cabinet volume. The tweeter is the same super-sweet black painted Aluminum/Magnesium tweeter, allowing the SR1000 S to create a holographic image behind the main system with pin-point imaging and outstanding spatial placement.

Unique Crossover Design
The SR1000 S is a very cool surround speaker. The SR1000 S can be used as a traditional 5.1 bipolar surround speaker, with both faces of each speaker firing simultaneously, creating a large, diffuse image with excellent spread and directivity. With the flick of a switch, the SR1000 S can be used in Twin mode, where each face of an SR1000 S is driven independently from the other, as if there were two separate bookshelf speakers mounted in a single box. This is perfect for use in a discrete 7.1 system, where one face of the SR1000 S can be used as the side surround and the other for the rear surround. Placement is then no longer an issue, whether the speakers are mounted on the sides of the room or in the rear, the SR1000 S fills the entire room with sound. When used as bipolar surrounds, the SR1000 S should use the rear surround amplifier channels, when used in Twin mode, both the rear and side amplifier channels will be used.
