Crosby - Nash Another Stoney Evening on 180g 2LP All-Acoustic Show Recorded on October 10, 1971 in Los Angeles Captures One of the Duo's First "Two Together" Performances Pure Bliss: Harmonies, Wood and Strings, Superb Songs, and Exquisite Sound "This Album Represents the Very Beginning of Our Musical Relationship as a Duo"- Nash It’s 1971. CSNY has recently broken up, but friends David Crosby and Graham Nash hit the road with an all-acoustic tour. Captured in on October 10, 1971 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in L.A. on that very trek, Another Stoney Evening is the glorious sound of pure harmony-based vocals, wood-and-string guitars, and a spare piano. Complete with stage banter, it’s a show for the ages. Previously released only on CD (in 1998), Another Stoney Evening captures an intimate performance, one of the first the duo billed as "two together." Song highlights include "Deja Vu," "Wooden Ships," "Southbound Train," "Immigration Man," "Guinevere," and "Teach Your Children." Yes, classics all, and here given a more roots-based, stripped-down treatment than they had been in CSNY. If you're a folk, Americana, pop, or vocal fan, you need to hear this record. Moreover, Nash and Crosby's respective voices have rarely, if ever, sounded stronger or better. Recorded before either of the artists would need to deal with the ravages of age or chemical abuse, each performer seems to spur on the other, the blend of timbres and tones nothing short of heavenly. This 180g vinyl reissue of this classic set is the first release on the duo's own label, Blue Castle Records. Showcasing the songwriting and live show that established these artists as American legends, Another Stoney Evening is a must-have for any record collection. |
