The Sex Pistols legendary June 1967 Manchester gig and the first performance of Magazine both inspired vocalist Alan Hempsall to form Crispy Ambulance in 1978. The band released their seminal and only full lenght LP, The Plateau Phase, in 1982 on Factory Benelux. This avant-garde sound is now considered an influence on post-punk, post-rock, gothic rock and other atmospheric/melodic music with an artistic edge. Full of complex yet minimalistic strings of music that surprise with intricacy and force, this collection sounds as relevant today as in the year of its initial release. Faithfully reproduced aurally and visually, one can hear the influences of Brian Eno, Popul Vuh, and Joy Division pressing through Crispy Ambulance's strummings and croonings on this utterly original work.
