Extra Life Secular Works on Vinyl LP! 

Extra Life, the new project of ex-Zs guitarist and frequent singer/songwriter Charlie Looker may be an even better one than his last. The quintet incorporates violin and saxophone into a more traditional rock setup. It’d be exciting music alone, but what really tethers these songs in place is Looker’s well-trained voice, vaulting up and down the register even within a single word and bringing frayed emotion to the forefront. Looker has a rigorous and strikingly unique style, channeling the monophonic song of medieval religious chant and troubadour tradition and his voice carries a monolithic weight over the band’s often dissonant lurches and stabs.

The lineup for Extra Life is Charlie Looker (vocals, guitar), Travis Laplante (keyboards, tenor sax and EWI), Caley Monahon-Ward (violin), Tony Gedrich (bass) and Nick Podgurski (drums). The LP version of Secular Works found here is a release of I and Ear Records.
