"We're going to be the band that writes the song that makes Israel and Palestine get along," is what Art Brut promised the world on their 2005 debut album Bang Bang Rock & Roll. And even though the situation in the Middle East hasn't improved, their bold promise put the London art wave band on the musical map.

Brilliant! Tragic!, their newest album and fourth overall, was produced by the legendary Black Francis of the Pixies as was their 2009 release Art Brut vs. Satan. "We had more time in the studio, so Black Francis had time to teach me to sing," lead man Eddie Argos explains.

Brilliant! Tragic! offers up a singing/mumbling slacker attitude with sawdust in the gearbox, verbosely funny lyrics, and cover artwork courtesy of Image comic book artist Jamie McKelvie.
