WU LYF (an acronym of World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation) have recorded one of the year’s most highly anticipated debut records. The band, a quartet from Manchester, U.K. aged between 20 and 22, spent much of 2010 purposely avoiding the glare of the U.K. music industry. Turning their back on all media attention, they instead spent the year honing their live shows and perfecting the songs and story that would become Go Tell Fire To The Mountain.

Fiercely independent, WU LYF turned down a host of record deals and decided to self-record, produce and release their debut album around the world on their own LYF imprint. The result is a band who have total freedom and a record that is uncompromising, free of pretention and totally pure. The genre, coined by the band themselves, is 'heavy pop’.

Go Tell Fire To The Mountain was recorded over 21 days and nights in a disused, Venetian-style church in North Manchester. The venue was chosen for the sound and ambience it would provide, rather than for any religious reason, but the explosive mix of organs, echoed percussion, chiming guitar and one of the most distinctive vocalists to emerge in years is almost spiritual in feel. The various elements combine into a cathartic experience: as The Guardian states, “the resulting songs are dark, beautiful and ridiculously euphoric.”
