Originally released on the Impulse! label in 1963, Live At Birdland finds jazz legend John Coltrane in a fine-tuned quartet with McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). One of 'Trane's best all-around offerings, the set features three tracks recorded live at the landmark jazz club Birdland ("Afro Blue," "I Want To Talk About You," and "The Promise" ) and two cuts recorded at Van Gelder Studios ("Alabama," "Your Lady").
