Originally released in October of 1988, Age of Consent is the fourth full length album from New York heavy metal band Virgin Steele. The album took eight months to complete, and although the material on Age of Consent follows in style and content to that of its popular 1986 predecessor Noble Savage, it features a much more polished sound and production.

"To me, Age Of Consent is the album that I usually refer to as the one that got away in our career. When it was originally released it was sent out into the world without any promotion or fanfare, much like a soldier, catapulted onto a battlefield, naked and without any weapons. Because of this many people were completely unaware of its existence. Therefore we are absolutely over the moon about being able to present it to you once again. For this reissue, I have remastered all the songs from the original source tapes, and added several more 'bonus tracks.'
