Speakers Corner has just released one of the most important jazz records of all time! Originally released in 1961, Blues and the Abstract Truth was recorded by Impulse! founder, Creed Taylor. Nelson performs six of his own compositions switching between tenor and alto sax. The rest of the band on this session was comprised of jazz luminaries including: Bill Evans, Freddie Hubbard, Paul Chambers, Roy Haynes and Eric Dolphy! The opening cut, “Stolen Moments,' is Oliver Nelson's most important composition and is easily worth the price of admission alone. All the playing on this album is incredible and this 180g reissue sounds warm and wonderful, with greatly enhanced clarity. Our highest recommendation! 1. Stolen Moments |
