There was a very special magic in the air that saturday afternoon; not only handshaking, backslapping, the 'You ain't aged a bit' banter that went on backstage, but a certain visceral excitment as the crowd began to pour in. The occasion was the Fan Fair Reunion Show, held June 14th 1975, bringing back many acts who had been of signal importance over the years. Country music fans are, of course, famous for their loyalty to the artists of the past, but Nashville on Fan Fair weekend is a Kaleidoscope of diverse pleasures, and it was uncertain how many would come to see the old timers play again, and the ones that did, boy did they get a treat! To some this album will revive treasured memories; for others it will introduce a rich world of too-easily forgotten country music history.
