Developed around soundtrack material Herbie Hancock had written for Bill Cosby's Fat Albert cartoon, 1969's Fat Albert Rotunda finds Herbie and company making their first full-on foray into jazz-funk. The star-studded supporting cast here includes Joe Henderson on tenor sax, Johnny Coles on trumpet, Garnett Brown on trombone, Buster Williams on bass and Albert "Tootie" Heath on drums.
