The 'King of the Georgia Blues' and master of the 12-string guitar, Blind Willie McTell’s praise has been sung far and wide by everyone from the Allman Brothers (who famously covered his “Statesboro Blues”), to Bob Dylan (who wrote a song about him called “Blind Willie McTell”), to Jack White (who covered his “Southern Can Mama” and “Lord, Send Me An Angel”). Originally recorded for Vocalion (in New York City) and Decca (in Chicago) these tracks from the mid-'30s mark the height of McTell’s recording career. Featuring his wife Kate singing on “Ain’t It Grand To Be A Christian” and long-time associate and Georgia guitar-great, Curley Weaver on several tracks.
