But now, thanks to this amazing Groove Note SACD reissue, you can hear her incredible vocal interpretations with unbelievable back up from pianist Monty Alexander, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Frank Gant. The band really cooks and the ensemble is portrayed flawlessly! Ernestine is heard throughout in prime form on such fine material as 'As Long As I Live,' a touching 'Old Folks,' 'My Shining Hour,' and 'Poor Butterfly.', sounding quite enthusiastic and powerful. This is a great recording finally done justice by Groove Note’s attention to detail in the mastering! Highly recommended!
