Originally released on Interscope in 1997, The Brown Album is the fifth studio offering from alternative-rock stalwarts Primus led by bassist/vocalist extraordinaire Les Claypool. The band's first without longtime drummer Tim 'Herb' Alexander finds the group heading even further into progressive jazz-rock territory, yet it doesn't compromise Claypool's bass theatrics in the slightest as he sounds as thick and proficient as ever here and his eccentric storytelling has never been better. Featuring the endearing singles “Shake Hands with Beef” and “Over the Falls.”

Primus formed in the late ‘80s in Northern California, releasing their first album, Suck On This, in 1989. They signed to Caroline Records and released the now-classic Frizzle Fry in 1990. As part of the alternative rock explosion of the ‘90s, the band signed to Interscope and gave the world some of the biggest records of the decade, including Sailing The Seas Of Cheese, Pork Soda, Tales From The Punchbowl and The Brown Album, not to mention the world famous theme song for South Park.
