YIQ-1 is perfect for the video enthusiast on a budget, offering great video performance at a price that won't break your budget.  What makes YIQ-1 such a great performer?  Great materials, clever engineering and attention to detail. 

Silver is excellent for conducting video frequencies, unfortunately, pure silver cables are very expensive (see the YIQ-5 to get an idea).  Silver plating a video cable is an easy way to get much of the performance of a solid silver cable at a much lower price.  The industry standard for silver plating on a video cable is usually about 1.25% silver over Oxygen Free Copper.  Audioquest uses twice as much silver (2.5%) over their high-purity Long Grain Copper on the YIQ-1 and the difference is immediately visible.  Colors are brighter, sharper and the picture is more detailed.  Depth is also greatly improved, creating a more 3D-like effect. 

Audioquest has also gone to great pains to protect the delicate video signals from noise that destroys and distorts fine detail.  Each of the three conductors in YIQ-1 are protected using two different types of sheilding, which not only keeps outside contamination from RFI and EMI from getting in, but also protects the conductors from each other!  The outer sheild is a braided shield for maximum EMI protection, the inner shield is a Foil/Mylar/Foil shield that protects against interference from radio frequencies.  The combination of these two shielding techniques allows YIQ-1 to create images that are less noisy and more detailed.  Shadows, deep blacks, movement and fine detail are greatly enhanced, creating an experience that will draw you deeper into any performance.
