Don’t think you can live with a passive preamp? CIAudio’s new reference passive preamplifier, the PLC-1, makes it easy. Shattering the long-held objections to passive preamp ownership, the PLC-1 acts and feels just like an active pre-amp but with all the sonic benefits of being passive! Featuring four line inputs and a tape loop, Home Theater bypass, dual outputs, 12V trigger AND full-function remote control, you’d never guess the PLC-1 was a passive preamp. Designed to compete against the world’s best passive preamps, every effort was made to keep the PLC-1 sonically transparent. The first step was to eliminate conventional solder and use only lead-free silver solder, lead free component parts, and gold-plated circuit boards for optimal conductivity. Not only is this approach more environmentally responsible, it sounds better, too! From there, CIAudio requisitioned a brand new custom-made ALPS Blue Velvet motorized volume control, fabricated a beautifully machined aluminum chassis and combined them all with CIAudio’s legendary build quality and attention to detail. The PLC-1 gets out of the way and lets your music flow. This is, without a doubt, one of the finest passive preamps we’ve ever offered.

The RC-1a Remote Control system allows for complete control without ever leaving your listening chair. Volume, Mute, Input scroll (up/down), Tape Monitor, and direct access to any input are at your fingertips. A 12v trigger output can also be controlled by the remote to turn on/off other devices (amplifiers, etc.)

Four standard audio inputs and a tape loop allow for up to five audio sources. The fourth input can be internally configured as a Home Theater Bypass Input. Audio signals are switched by highest quality relays with gold-plated contacts, then fed to a custom ALPS Blue Velvet motorized potentiometer. Circuit boards are gold-plated and assembled with lead-free silver solder for best conductivity. Input display uses sequentially illuminated blue LED's for easy identification from across the room, and an orange LED for tape monitor. Two pair of output jacks are provided for bi-amping, sub-woofers, etc. Our beautifully custom machined aluminum chassis, knobs, stainless steel hardware reflect the quality of circuitry inside, and remote functions are duplicated on the front panel for maximum convenience.
