The Esoteric SA-60 is basically a DV-60 without any video circuitry. This machine is the ultimate music-only digital player, able to play any digital format: CD, SACD, DVD and DVD-A albeit without any video output. The SA-60 features Esoteric’s custom up-sampling capabilities, the same custom engineered transport mechanism (VOSP), the same incredible build quality and the same incredible sound! The SA-60 has both Multi-Channel and Stereo outputs (the stereo outputs use a super high end analog output section with XLR and RCA outputs).

The up-sampling capability of the SA-60 is quite revolutionary. The combination of Esoteric’s proprietary “FIR” and “RDOT” up-sampling settings is user selectable (via the remote or on the unit itself). You can up-sample 16bit/44.1kHz red-book CDs to a maximum of 24bit/1411.2kHz! You can even up-sample any source to DSD and then convert back to analog! This technology is really cool and you can hear each setting and their differences with ease.

The custom designed VOSP transport mechanism is one of the finest made (except for Esoteric’s own VRDS-NEO used in the X-01 and X-03). No modified transport can read the information off a disc with this much accuracy… period! The VOSP transport uses Esoteric’s proprietary horizontal sled and vertical pick-up/optical assembly, which eliminates off axis vertical tracking errors and the corresponding need for error correction. In other words… this is a killer transport and nothing “off the shelf” can compare!
