Housed inside a small black metal chassis featuring two digital inputs (TosLink and RCA) and two digital outputs (RCA and XLR), the new 48/96 Up-sampler is the latest offering from the creative minds at Monarchy Audio. Positioned between your CD transport and outboard DAC, the DIP 48/96 Upsampler will take the CD transports digital signal and boost it from about 0.5V to around 5.0V, while reducing the number of timing errors, or jitter, and re-clocking the digital signal. The DIP 48/96 Upsampler enhances the digital data stream by adding dither to the mix, thereby increasing the bit rate from 16 to 24 bits and upsampling the frequency from 44.1kHz to either 48kHz or 96kHz. What does this mean to the sound? Listening tests confirm a smoother, more refined digital playback with less grain, or harshness.
