BEATLES - THE CAPITOL ALBUMS (4CD SET-MONO - STEREO)

BEATLES/THE CAPITOL ALBUMS VOLUME 1 (4CD SET-MONO/STEREO)

For the first time on CD…the original 1964 Capitol albums by The Beatles presented in both stereo and mono! The limited-edition Capitol Albums Vol. 1 Box Set includes the first four US released Beatles records: Meet the Beatles, The Beatles’ Second Album, Something New and Beatles ’65. The box set includes an incredible 60-page booklet written by famed Beatles historian Mark Lewison. This package presents all four albums in their entirety first in Stereo then in Mono.

Just announced! Beatles Capitol Albums Vol. 2!

Compiled using custom tube playback equipment from the original stereo and mono analog master tapes, many of the songs here are presented for the very first time on CD in True Stereo! According to Capitol's current president, Andy Slater, some tracks will be in the company's unique 'Duophonic' sound in which two mono channels that were equalized, compressed and reverbed.  'It's fairly primitive stereo -- instruments in one channel, vocals in the other channel,' Slater says, 'But it creates a sound that your memory tells you is correct.'

Cynical Reviewer Proved Wrong! 10/10 Review!

'I was wrong. These four Frankenstein monsters created by Capitol in 1964 out of parts stripped from various UK originals sound fantastic and yes, revisiting them after decades of neglect and dismissal opened a floodgate of intense memories, and especially where and when I bought each of these albums, and how I reacted upon hearing them.

Ted Jensen did a brilliant mastering job. The clarity, delicacy, transparency and three-dimensionality he's managed to transfer from the tapes to the CDs will keep you mesmerized and in your seat throughout, even during the “Duophonic” disasters like “I Feel Fine.” Listening to how good these sometimes diddled with tracks (added reverb, compression and different EQ) sound, will remind you that the original UK catalog is in desperate need of a redo. The sound easily rivals and in many cases bests Capitol original LPs. I could make a case for either these CDs or Japanese EAS series mid-70's pressings-that's how good Jensen's mastering is.' - Read Michael Fremer’s Entire Review on musicangle.com

The packaging comes in longbox that you may choose to dispose of (but were betting most people wont) with the four discs housed in mini-LP style jackets and then fit in a foldable case that will fit on a standard CD shelf.

Meet The Beatles

Released January 20, 1964

Capitol T-2047 (mono), ST-2047 (stereo)

In the US, Meet the Beatles! wasn't simply an album; for America's youth, it opened up a new musical universe embedded in the grooves of this record. Until now, Meet the Beatles! was in danger of becoming forgotten. As CDs replaced LPs combined with Capitol's decision to release only the original UK albums on CD, rendered Meet the Beatles! (along with these three other US releases) obsolete. Until Now! 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' 'I Saw Her Standing There,' 'It Won't Be Long,' 'All My Loving,' and 'Till There Was You' plus all the others kicked off a string of number one singles while changing the face of popular music forever! Now available on CD for the first time, Americans can reignite their feelings of when they first 'met the Beatles!'

The Beatles' Second Album

Released April 10, 1964

Capitol T-2080 (mono), ST-2080 (stereo)

The first album of the group's work to be assembled by Capitol Records exclusively for the American market. The Beatles' Second Album is the best pure rock & roll album ever issued of the group's music. No other LP featured them doing more covers of songs by African American artists or songwriters, including Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Smokey Robinson, and others. Lennon/McCartney originals such as 'She Loves You,' 'You Can't Do That,' 'I Call Your Name' and 'Thank You Girl' round out this release. This version of 'Roll Over Beethoven' charted briefly as a single, while 'Long Tall Sally' served as their concert finale.

Something New

Released July 20, 1964

Capitol T-2108 (mono), ST-2108 (stereo)

Due to the fact that Capitol Records did not have the rights to A Hard Day's Night; the soundtrack to the United Artists film, Capitol compiled a competing record of eight of the songs from the UK album (including 'And I Love Her,' 'Any Time at All,' 'Things We Said Today,' and 'I'm Happy Just to Dance With You,') along with two songs from a UK EP and the German-language version of The Beatles singing 'I Want to Hold Your Hand.' Until now, Something New has been an elusive title for Beatles collectors.
