Rebecca Pidgeon's signature sweet voice has spanned three solo albums and distinct musical and song styles; now commemorating the best from each album, Retrospective highlights the individual tiles that together create an exacting mosaic of this amazing singer/songwriter. Rebecca's 1994 debut solo album The Raven leapt to the stage as listeners and critics alike grabbed hold of her penetrating storylines and crystalline vocal quality. Reflective yet contemporary, intimate yet witty, The Raven worked its way into our hearts with Rebecca's lilting melodies. Two years later Pidgeon released New York Girls' Club, which is considered by many to be Rebecca's most accessible work, featuring a more smoky, sophisticated approach with a Pop-Rock feel and rich instrumentation. Rebecca's third release entitled Four Marys, was a deliberate departure from her previous songwriting focus; a sort of homecoming to her Scottish roots, Rebecca pours her natural voice over 12 traditional Celtic folk songs. This SACD-only compilation is worthy of attention from any lover of female vocals.
