For 10 years, they labored in the bars of Northern California’s East Bay as The Blue Velvets, then The Golliwogs. In the rock and roll deluge, they hardly made a ripple. That changed fast after they moved to Fantasy Records and took the name Creedence Clearwater Revival. In 1968, their debut album with that title became an enormous hit. Creedence’s no-nonsense style and John Fogerty’s excoriating lead vocals captivated fans and by the end of the decade, Creedence’s Bayou Country album with 'Proud Mary' had gone platinum and the band was an American institution. The Concert finds them world-famous on home ground in an Oakland stadium giving a partisan crowd what it wanted - undiluted all-out rock and roll.
