Originally released in 1971, Madman Across the Water was much less cinematic and epic as the previous Tumblweed Connection. Madman was Elton and Bernie Taupin's forray into quasi prog-rock. Like his previous albums, Madman is filled with lush string arrangements which serve to conjour up moody and haunting scenes. Darkly introspective, the album is anchored by 'Tiny Dancer', 'Levon' and 'Razor Face'.
