Ricci, a child prodigy, first became recognized for his virtuoso talent on his performances of several concertos by such well-known composers as Felix Mendelssohn and Niccolò Paganini. Pablo Sarasate, a violinist known for both his Spanish flavor and Hungarian Gipsy style of musical compositions, wrote Carmen Fantaise on this very special album recorded by Decca in 1959 in the Kingsway Hall in London. The music from Carmen Fantaise is easily recognizable to even the most uneducated classical music listener and is a colorful landscape of musical expression.
