With this recording of Dvorak's 11th string quartet, a major work of Beethovenian stature, the Prazak Quartet completes their cycle of the composer's final five quartets. Also featured on the disc is Cypresses - a title Dvorak gave to a group of songs he wrote out for his love for his 16-year-old pupil Josefina Cermakova. Later in life, the composer transcribed 12 of these love songs into pieces for string quartet. Dvorak's melodic gift is at its most affecting in these touching miniatures.
