Known for his extremely fluid, fleet-fingered Spanish influenced guitar playing (as well as being one of the fathers of Fusion), for over a quarter of a century, Al Di Meola has been a trailblazer. Flesh on Flesh, finds him pushing the musical envelope in both directions: exploring new avenues of cross-cultural expression while reaching into his own storied past to create a new and distinctly personal statement. Grouped with a very talented cast of supporting musicians (Anthony Jackson, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Alejandro Santos, Gumbi Ortiz and Mario Parmisano) the sextet explores five Di Meola originals while interpreting compositions by Chick Corea, Astor Piazzolla and Egberto Gismonti.
