'Lou Takes Off' is not just one of the big money collectible Blue Notes for no reason. With a line up including Lou Donaldson on Sax, Curtis Fuller on trombone, Art Taylor on drums, Sonny 'Cool Struttin'' Clark on piano and Donald Byrd on trumpet. The tunes on the LP include 'Sputnik', 'Dewey Square', Srollin' IN' and 'Groovin' High'. The Stereo version of this release was cut on the Classic 'ALL Tube' stereo cutting system from the original 'Stereo Master' tapes which were run simultaneously with the original 'Mono Master' tapes in 1956 by Rudy Van Gelder used to cut the Mono version of this release on Classic's ALL TUBE MONO cutting system. The comparison is very interesting - buy both in the Classic Blue Note Signature LP reissue series and decide for yourself which you prefer.
