HORACE PARLAN - ON THE SPUR OF THE MOMENT (MONO) (200g LP)

Classic reissued this title a few years ago in stereo from the original two track master tapes cut on our all tube cutting system by Bernie 'Be-Bop' Grundman and pressed on a conventional 180g profile. So they went back and cut it in Mono on our all tube MONO cutting system. Why? Because many argue persuasively that Van Gelder really recorded to two channels not for the stereo effect but for more control in the final MONO mix of the two channels. This recording features Tommy Turrentine on trumpet, Stanley Turrentine (brother) on tenor Sax, Horace on piano, George Tucker on bass and Al Harewood on drums. Tunes include the title track, and 'Shoo Chee', 'Al's Tune', 'Ray C.' (for Mr. Charles) and 'Pyramid'. Cut in Mono cut from the same two track master tape with the channels folded 50/50 as per Rudy's original notes to do so on the tape box. Also available in stereo from the same tapes. Both Pressed on Classic's 200g Super Vinyl Profile.
