Owing as much to James Brown and Tito Puente as to Fela Kuti, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, a multi-racial 17-piece Brooklyn collective is far from straight afrobeat revivalist. The band lays New York's rich musical heritage of jazz, funk, and latin groove over afrobeat's poly-rhythms to spectacular effect, resulting in a raw selection of soul driving ghetto funk, finally available on (the real deal) 2LP Vinyl.
