Music icon Willie Nelson collaborates with prolific singer/songwriter Ryan Adams on his new upcoming album for Lost Highway Records entitled, Songbird. The 11-track set was recorded at Loho Studios in New York, NY, mixed by Jamie Candiloro and produced by Adams and his band The Cardinals back Nelson throughout. The set list features covers of Gram Parson's “$1000 Wedding,” Christine McVie's 'Songbird,' the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter favorite 'Stella Blue' and Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah.' Nelson also reworks some of his own classics such as “Rainy Day Blues,” “Sad Songs & Waltzes” and 'We Don't Run,' and ends the set with a rendition of the traditional “Amazing Grace.” Sounds like a match made in heaven!

Despite coming from different musical backgrounds, Willie Nelson and Ryan Adams find an amazing middle-ground with their first full-length collaboration. The beautifully textured Songbird pays homage to a widely diverse group of songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Gram Parsons, Fleetwood Mac, and The Grateful Dead, and features originals from both Willie and Ryan. The album sits perfectly between the traditional country music Willie almost single-handedly carried into the new millennium and the dissonant guitar-driven rock Ryan has melded together in the last few years with The Cardinals.
