Along with My Favorite Things, Giant Steps is Trane's most influential album, the full flowering of his mighty playing. This was also the album that transformed Coltrane from an eclectic jazz player into a revered jazz giant. A classic Atlantic recording of Coltrane performing his own compositions, including the title track, 'Naima', and 'Cousin Mary', with sidemen Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers and Art Taylor. Also features guest appearances by Wynton Kelly and Jimmy Cobb.
