AVID - ACUTUS TURNTABLE CHROME FINISH **DEMO**This Product is a Demo The AVID Acutus... one of the World's Finest Analog Playback Devices! The engineering and design behind this table has set new standards in music reproduction. AVID’s design philosophy begins with the most critical component in the signal chain, the stylus riding the groove of the record. The AVID Acutus uses a bonded polymer mat attached to a massive 22 lb. platter to combat the energy created by the stylus tracing the record grooves and providing a stable environment for information retrieval. After all, if you can’t get the information out of the grooves at the stylus tip, precious resolution is lost. The Acutus recovers an unprecedented amount of information delivering fast, undeniable pin-point accuracy. All unwanted energy is transferred to the inverted bearing, made from a sapphire jewel cup containing a tungsten carbide ball. The inverted bearing is attached to a sub-chassis consisting of a single piece of complex aluminum casting in a three-fold design ensuring massive strength and rigidity. This provides a direct link between the arm mounting and the bearing. AVID principle provides for all energy from the platter and tone arm to be completely drained into the suspension, translating into ultra-quiet, deep black backgrounds. The sub-chassis rests on a frequency adjustable, active suspension consisting of three specially designed extension springs adjustable with a reverse “cork-screw” device; insuring a low center of gravity, stability, and equal suspension regardless of load. The vertical springs are horizontally aligned with lateral damping rings preventing any rocking motion; this allows vertical motion and guarantees the drive belt is always the same distance from the motor, assuring rock-solid speed stability. This amazing engineering feat is wrapped up with a powerful A/C motor (10 times more torque than conventional units), completely rebuilt to reduce vibration and noise, a split-phase quartz-locked power supply, a round drive belt without retaining grooves on the platter, truly “driving” the platter with consistent pitch stability even if the ‘table is oscillating. That’s engineering! The Acutus is not only an engineering marvel with a sonic presentation unlike any other, it is also a jaw-dropping beauty. 'Buy an Acutus and you've got a whole new record collection to listen 'The Avid Acutus was a superb sounding turntable by any standard - among the handful of best turntables I've heard...'—Michael Fremer, Stereophile Specifications Drive: Beld Drive |
