Description:
The new VPI Rim Drive turns the platter directly for a near perfect transfer of energy. The immediacy of the sound that the Rim Drive produces is amazing! The platter is driven by a silicone “O” ring on the circumference of a large wheel attached to the flywheel. The flywheel is a noiseless, cog-free source of power. The rim drive transfers this power perfectly.

The VPI Rim Drive improves pace, timing, spatial cues, noise levels, and image stability, while delivering deep, tight bass. For the first time, you will hear bass from a turntable that sounds like a master tape. Not only is it deep, the Rim Drive is fast with terrific punch.

With the VPI Rim Drive, all the power delivered to the flywheel by the two low noise 24 pole synchronous motors will be delivered to the platter in perfect rotation. There isn’t a better source for powering a turntable than a noiseless passive flywheel. The new VPI Rim Drive solves the problem of getting the energy from the flywheel to the platter elegantly. Best of all, every TNT-6, Super Scoutmaster, and HR-X can be retrofitted with this amazing new drive system.

NOTE: This product is a kit for upgrading dual motor VPI turntables; this is not a full motor assembly. Kit includes a Rim Drive flywheel which replaces the stock flywheel and a pair of motors to replace the stock motors. Also included are instructions on how to replace the existing motors in the dual motor assembly.
