Metallica Kill 'Em All (Deluxe Edition) on Limited Edition 45RPM 180-gram 2-LP Vinyl Set

Half-Speed Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes at Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs for the Ultimate Listening Experience!

#35 in Rolling Stone's The 100 Greatest Albums of the 80s

MORE MUST-HAVES: Half-Speed Remastered 180-gram 45RPM LP Pressings of Metallica's Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All, and "The Black Album" Also Available!

Here is where it starts. Metallica's debut album, originally released in 1983, is a masterpiece of thrash metal, and is as good a marker as any record in the genre. Fusing the ferocious attack of bands like Motorhead with a fluid guitar style reminiscent of such British heavy metal bands as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Metallica essentially created a new metal hybrid.

Multiple songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees' 1983 album are acknowledged standards, including "Seek & Destroy," "The Four Horsemen," and "Jump in the Fire." Also featured are several tracks co-written by one-time member and Megadeth legend Dave Mustaine, who was kicked out of the band due to his chemical-abuse problems.

Never before has this record sounded so potent. Due to half-speed mastering from the original analog tapes, a process done by the experts at Mobile Fidelity, hearing this pressing is like experiencing the music for the first time all over again. Absolutely essential.

"Having previously seen re-release via various digital and vinyl incarnations, Metallica's albums are no strangers to improvement attempts. Yet even listeners that know these platters back-to-front are in for a shock not dissimilar to the surprise they received when the Bay Area group went soft in the 90s. Only, unlike the latter, this transformation is welcome. Instrumental detail, body, and presence are jaw-droppingly grand. Soundstage dimensions are off the chart. The vinyl surfaces are super-quiet. And the previously inhibiting compression has been lifted.
Kill 'Em All remains at heart a punk-stoked garage record, its rough and raw character still much in evidence. Yet as demonstrated to hypnotic effect on "The Four Horsemen," Cliff Burton's bass has never possessed such impact or palpability. Lars Ulrich's percussive moves lack sheer transparency, but not so the twin lightning-strike riffing of James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, whose fierce playing is split into opposite channels and kept in parallel sequence. The results are some kind of blood and thunder."
-Bob Gendron, The Absolute Sound, August 2008
