Avery Sharpe's new quintet recording Legends & Mentors honors the music of McCoy Tyner, Archie Shepp and Yusef Lateef. Avery was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to perform and record with all three of these musical legends and they all had a heavy influence on his musical direction and career. Avery's quintet here consists of Joe Ford on saxophones and flute, John Blake on violin, Onaje Allan Gumbs on piano and Winard Harper on drums.
