Faith No More followed their break-through success with 1992's bizarre masterpiece, Angel Dust, often cited as one of the more complex and simply confounding records ever released by a major label. Angel Dust is a musically adventurous record that represented yet a tremendous leap forward for Faith No More. One that broke through by cramming together rap's vocal cadences, metal's brute force and progressive rock's pompous keyboards on "Epic," the hit single from its 1989 album The Real Thing. The result is twisted entertainment at its finest, helping establish the group as a major hard-rock act to be reckoned with - after a few listens, you will realize how brilliant this album actually is. Angel Dust remains as Faith No More's highest-selling album with worldwide sales around 3 million copies. The album was dubbed one of the "Albums of the Year" in 1992 by seven different publications in four countries, while making the top 10 in three of them and the top position in one, and has been referred to as one of the “Most Influential Albums of all Time". Angel Dust is the fourth studio album by Faith No More and it was the second to feature Mike Patton on vocals and the final with long time guitarist Jim Martin. To this day it is still held in very high regard as one of the most influential records of the '90s and many consider this album to be Faith No More at their finest. It was on Angel Dust that Mike Patton really came into his own and Billy Gould, Roddy Bottum and Mike "Puffy" Bordin, thanks to the success of The Real Thing, had more confidence in their ability to create the album they truly wanted to. At the same time, guitarist Jim Martin began to become dissatisfied with the direction that their music was going and after touring to support Angel Dust in the summer of 1992, he exited the band due to internal conflicts.
