Catfish Haven's Devastator is in the spirit of Kiss' Destroyer, ZZ Top's Eliminator and Lou Reed's Transformer. The bands blues-infused ballads and boozy trots possess equal amounts of backwoods authenticity and cosmopolitan flair. They may harvest most of their mojo from south of the Mason Dixon, but they bleed metropolitan with undeniable garage-grime charm and power-pop arrangements. Catfish Haven's unclassifiable, yet broad appeal, is evidenced here by Devastator’s in the pocket title track, the organic glitterball jam “Set In Stone” and the bittersweet barn burner “Full Speed.”
