The Day Trip sessions were recorded at Manhattan’s Right Track studio in late October of 2005, sequenced and released into a 10-song set in the winter of 2008. Reviews from the daily U.S. press along the way have been a compendium of superlatives. The Philadelphia Inquirer declared, “Metheny shows why the trio is still relevant...There’s nowhere to hide, and the easy fluency of Metheny’s chops create a unique world. Tokyo Day Trip Live was originally released in May of 2008 as a 5-track EP recorded live in Tokyo with the Day Trip trio prior to their studio sessions. This 3 LP Vinyl release combines the contents of the full-length album and the live EP in a 3-pocket deluxe gatefold package plus 2 CDs in baby jackets.
