Released in celebration of legendary Marantz Brand Ambassador and audio designer Ken Ishiwata’s 30-year anniversary with the company, the SA-KI CD/SACD Player takes its place amongst the best digital players ever built. It’s also an instant collector’s item that every audiophile will want to own. Strictly limited to just 500 units world-wide, personally customized by Ishiwata, and sporting a sexy “silk black” pearl finish—a first for Marantz Reference—the unit was specifically designed by Ishiwata “to reproduce music exactly as the original artist and the recording engineers intended.”
 
In order to meet and exceed his exacting standards, Ishiwata spared no expense. The SA-KI Pearl features a copper-plated chassis with a double-layered bottom plate, “bulletproof” vibration-damped cabinet, large toroidal transformer within a copper-plated, fully shielded case, solid aluminum machined feet, and an impenetrable 5mm-thick heavy aluminum top cover. The superior build quality also extends to the transport, custom designed in-house by Marantz engineers with their proprietary SACDM-10 transport mechanism with a Xyron loader. Every part inside was meticulously tested and listened to by Mr. Ishiwata, guaranteeing the perfect synergy of audiophile sensibilities and a sense of reverence indebted to the original recorded event.

Of course, excellent fit and finish aspects are worthless unless they are complemented by equally great technological innovation. Fortunately, Ishiwata realizes it’s the music and emotion that matter, and to get the best-possible sound, loaded the SA-KI with an incredible array of parts that ensure phenomenal dynamic range, a high S/N ratio and staggering L/R separation. Customized HDAM-SA2 analog output circuits, a Cirrus Logic D/A converter, selectable DAC filters, and high-quality audiophile-grade components—hand-selected by Ishiwata himself—combine to produce some of the richest, most natural digital playback we’ve ever heard. A detachable power cord and a discrete high-current headphone amplifier section allow the user the ultimate in flexibility.
